From a Fat Guy!

The Fat Guy with Polly in Febr 2009 @ almost 360 lbs

The below is a letter to the editor I just wrote in response to an article written by David Quick of the Post and Courier> The link to the article is http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2010/aug/31/is-obesity-normal-accepted/

NOT SO NORMAL EATING!

2,667 calories!! OH MY!!

Well, the last few weeks have been 'not so normal eating'! It has included the celebration of Polly's and my 25th Wedding Anniversary, as well as, a family reunion in Pickens with Polly's mom's family. Life has also been a little hectic and unpredictable (isn't it always!).

People would not believe how much you eat!

My loving wife, Polly, makes some great observations. I am driving her to a friend's house and she says to me, "People would not believe you lost 150 pounds based on how much (and often)  you eat each day!"  This statement is SOOOOO true, as I would not believe it myself if I had not lived it.

I have learned to eat regularly and for the most part smarter and in smaller portions. Eating more frequently:

Checking in Back in CHARLESTON!

Polly and our niece, Elizabeth, leaving Louisville.

Polly and I are both back in Charleston together for the first time since June 11th! I got back in town last Thursday and Polly pulled in this afternoon. With all we have been through this summer it is amazing we have not both gotten as big as cows! Polly has lost about 6 pounds this summer which is  great with all she has done for her parents and our niece. As I wrote last week, I was up to 224 and am back down to 218 this morning.

A WEEK TO REMEMBER!

Slip and Slide at Camp Kemo (Double Trouble)

Well my week at Camp KEMO is over! What a week it was! The counselors and staff are like family! The kids are phenomenal! And the food, well the food is abundant and served often!

LIFE HAPPENS!

Yes folks, Life Happens! How I deal with it each day is important to my journey. It has been an unusual 10 days since I last posted a blog.

On the not so happy side>
• I had a bout with some bad arm problems in my right arm with a combination of bursitis, tendonitis, and arthritis. My Dragon Boat career is definitely on hold. Tough but bearable.
• My mother-in-law and father-in-law both have had ups and downs with health issues the last 10 days and 4 months. It has made for some challenging times for all concerned.

HAPPY FOR MY FRIENDS SUCCESS AND INSPIRATION!

I am very happy this week for the success of friends.

One friend has lost over 53 pounds in 2 months and 12 days on his health/fitness journey. Rusty is doing well in all facets of his life and I am very happy for him and proud of his dedication to his new journey. He is an inspiration to me and those that know him. He loves his journey, wife, family, and career.
